Getting rid of my Worldwide Pinball collection..

I'm sure there's a pinball devotee who'll shell out for one of the *TOP* computer pinball collections in the world..
Amost every country that has ever issued a pinball game is represented, and they're all here.. if it was made, it's in the collection.. I spent thousands .. but I lost count how much...

I should also mention that there's more than is pictured.. consisting of just the CDs with no covers.. contained in a couple of CD cases. and a box etc..

But not for me.. I'm sorry to say.. i have neither an iPad or iPhone.. and even if i had an iPhone.. pinball on it would strain my gettin' ole eyes.!

But I've got an icon for it.. I've been working on Hi resolution substitutes for all the pinballs out there.. because even the Little Wing pinballs are sometimes lacking in that regard..
After 35 years in the arts , i may as well have *something* to show for it!

Ctazy Pinball gadgets no. #1

Well, I'm adding a new section to my blog.. called 'crazy pinball gadgets'
 I run into enough that either strike me as weird , outside , or just give me a chuckle...!

Is there anybody out there? Especially in europe.. since i can't seem to complete ANY transactions with germany, and all the pinballs i am looking for are there.. i may need a hand..

Freakshow Pinball

I finally found .. the actual Sims pinball game..!

Yup.. in all my collecting rare pinballs, one of the hardest to find HAS to be the stand-alone sims pinball game that came on one of their cd's..

Although it's posted on most of the online flash game sites, its nice to be able to play it without all those adverts blinking away at you...

The 'Secret' see, is the 'Seagull shoot' .. all ya gotta do is bonk a seagull with the pinball, and ya get an extra ball.. i musta got over 50 free balls so far..

pps ...the thing that just *gets* me here.. iz i KNOW it's a virtual bird.. a 'synthetic seagull'.. but they lets out such a yelp when they get bonked by the pinball it just makes me jump
yeah, it really bugs me....but not them, so much.. they just flies off after a yelp anyways.. it's just a virtual pinball, so its gotta be light ;-)
Hey ya know i use to have a couple sorta pet seagulls, well, they just walked into my apartment one day when they were chicks, an plunked themselves on the sofa.. i guess they was lost, but after me leading them out to where 'mum' or whatever was, afterward they always came and visited... every year..
I called em Tom an Jerry..

Y'know, some of these are just not downloadable, which means the best I can do is put up a link to them.. so - in line with my policy of no ads or junk pages, i always try to find the sites with the least bloat.. such as this one.. it ain't perfect, but it's OK

Intel playing games with you.. never! ;-)

Soo this is how I've made Vista pay.. (i mean Play!)

Wudda miserable Operating system it is.. (see this post for how i really feel ;-)

Basically i'm gonna list all the ways I've patched, tweaked, or otherwise manhandled that OSin order to make all my pinball games play on it..

So for today, first, i'm, gonna say what I did about the 'bottom of the ladder' games , the 'click & play' onbes , or the old win 3.1 ones or any smaller not so serious pinball.
Some of them are actually pretty cool , like the Sierra 'Take A Break' pinballs, or the TDK pinkall machine (s a small game that came with TDK products for a short while)
or General Admission Sports pinball...
None of these would either run, or install under Vista, irregardless of compatibility settings..(which, from the research I've done, appears only to report a different OS to the software, and nothing else)

I discovered , however, that Virtual PC is now FREE.. and downloadable from M$'s website..
And so, also, is Virtual Box, from Microsoft's Arch Nemesis.. Sun/Oracle (well it used to be Sun java, but it's been acquired by Oracle).
Soo..after setting up both VMs and installing every version of windows I have laying around..
I started to find out what runs where..
I've made one virtual machine with the aforementioned 'Light' pinballs here..

also for 'Take A Break Pinball' which has all the sierra games in it, like King's Quest, LL Larry, etc. it only runs in VPC..

and General Admission Sports Pinball, with which I had  real problem with, until i found only one VM and only one screen setting that worked..

well............

As for the rest.............

Unfortunately, the other games that normally run native On Windows ME will not run on the same, on VPC..
I get the following message "Unable to determine refresh rate of the display.. the application will now close"
If I use Win 2000, i get a memory error..
I'm still going to try, again, installing win 95, but the additions don't work in anything earlier than ME, and without them it uis just TOO cumbersome..

....and I don't own a copy of XP.. if I did I'd have installed it on my PC proper.. but what with that Activation B$.. (although there's one version of XP that doesn't use it, anyone know which that is?)
